Old Sturbridge Village

In between rain storms we took in Old Sturbridge Village and the 4th of July celebration of 1840. They had a parade to the town common and reading of the Declaration of Independence. The photo shows the "campaign ball" which had listings of important historical events to date (1840). There was a fife and drum band, military demos and some ox carts. The girls were impressed with the girth of the oxen and their elimination processes!

Speed demon, aka Gianna. The park was filled with typical 1840 games. Gianna's favorite was the hoop toss and hula hooping with the large hoops. I don't think that was a period game! Angelina loved the shuttlecocks (badminton).

End of day, beautiful covered bridge near the end of our walk. We enjoyed a Punch and Judy show, parade, fudge covered chocolate chip cookies (are these authentic?) and playing in the clay behind the potter's barn. Good times, good times.
