We took the girls into Boston today...saw Blue Man Group. Critic's Corner: Angelina "Awesome!" Gianna "It was OK." Hmmmm. Also, went by the Museum of Science for a quick visit. We saw the Mystical Creatures exhibit....yes, we spent a lot of time with the dragons and the chupacabra.

Ms. Jolie

Yesterday, we adopted a guinea pig named Angelina Jolie. We nicknamed her Jolie so there is less confusion in the household! She is VERY sweet and the girls are head over heels in love with her. Welcome Jolie!

Spelling Words

A's teacher has the students (sometimes) draw out the spelling words. This is right up A's alley! I love the expressions on the animals' faces. I watched her draw this and it only took her a few minutes! It was amazing to watch.

Haunted Hallways

Annual Haunted Hallways at the school. They trick or treat and then gather in the cafeteria to check out everyone's costumes. Lots of fun.

Down on Cape Cod

Lunch at the Dunbar Tea Room.

Down on the boardwalk. We hiked a little trail and then went over to the bay side. Another little walk before heading to the tea room for a late lunch.

Great Dane arrives, tours Beantown.

Sinne and I took in Boston yesterday. We walked the Freedom Trail.

Sinne reverently viewing Old North Church.

Public Gardens, Make Way For Ducklings, a fall afternoon with an old friend, priceless.

Happy Fall to everyone! Government Square was host to the Pumpkin Festival benefiting Camp Sunshine, a camp in Maine for terminally ill children and their families. LOTS of pumpkin stuff. After a full day of walking and talking, we went to the Virginia Tech vs. Boston College game where we witnessed the tragic loss of the Hokies. Awww.

Two Painted Ladies

Gianna raised 5 Painted Lady caterpillars to healthy butterflies. Angelina helped her release them. Here is one that just wasn't ready to fly away into the sunshine and a very "lipsticked" Angelina that was enjoying the butterfly's attention.

Fall has fallen.

Fall blooming crocus. I have planted many a bulb and finally can enjoy them in my yard in Plymouth...they are also planted in Tennessee and North Carolina! In other news, we have butterflies! Gianna received a caterpillar/butterfly house and kit for her birthday. We fed the caterpillars, they formed cocoons and now they are emerging into beautiful Painted Ladies. I'll have to start knitting little sweaters for them when we set them free. So our Fall is seeming more like Spring here in MA, I'm all confused, not new.

Happy Sarah Mitchell Day!

I decided to celebrate Sarah Mitchell Day because it's Sarah's birthday. Since we're not together, I thought the next best thing was to do some "Sarah" stuff and then share my day with her...I hope she enjoys it as much as I did.

Here I am for a walk at the waterfront, obligatory Mayflower. That's not very Sarah but walking by the water is "wicked good".

I had a meeting to attend...so up Leyden Street...oldest street in America (I think that's what they claim), Sarah would know. Anyway, a little known fact, I once drove the wrong way down this street. Luckily, there were no Pilgrims marching up the street...it was an off day. They reenact the march up Leyden Street to the burial ground throughout the month of August. I know Sarah loves history, so that's part of my history and I know she likes to visit cemeteries. I, however, did not include that on my Sarah List.

OK, after attending a meeting, I was off again doing Sarah stuff...first to Borders to peruse some books and make a purchase or two.

Then, back downtown, to walk and make my way to Kiskadee Coffee, a place very similar to a popular Blacksburg coffee shop. I was in search of lunch and something sweet, maybe with red rasberries. I thought about going to Jubilee (pictured here), which is similar to Kiskadee but I wanted to walk a bit.

Here I am at Kiskadee. Unfortunately, I could only find a Spiced Pumpkin Latte, a panini and a cheesecake brownie. I think Sarah would have enjoyed it.

Here's the grub at Kiskadee. I sat in the window to enjoy the beautiful day in America's Hometown. I read the paper, called the birthday girl and made some other phone calls. The sandwich was delicious.

I really love the artwork at the shop. Here's my rendition of "Cod" in front of the original "Cod". After my jaunt downtown, I had to pick up the girls and make our way to dance (not soccer). We then met up with friends at 99 and had dinner. Happy Sarah Mitchell Day!
